About the Founder

Amalia Petrovics

Founder | Market Development, Italy ↔ South Korea

Based in Tuscany, Amalia founded Italian Wine Bridge Korea to develop commercial relationships between Italian wineries and South Korean importers.

Before founding IWBK, Amalia ran a wine bar for seven years, with a list of around 450 labels, alongside her own restaurant, which she continued to run until 2021. She has a degree in legal services, has begun sommelier training and is studying Korean.

Her work starts with producer research: understanding the wines, their positioning, export readiness and existing distribution. She then assesses where they could fit within a Korean importer’s portfolio and channels.

Italian Wine Bridge Korea is building a deliberately small selection of producers rather than a long list. Each collaboration starts with a direct conversation about market availability, expectations and practical next steps.

What we do

A focused commercial bridge between Italy and South Korea.

We work around market fit rather than volume: selecting distinctive producers, identifying relevant Korean importers and supporting the commercial relationship from introduction through follow-up. Italian Wine Bridge Korea operates as an independent business-development bridge: wineries sell directly to licensed Korean importers.

For Italian wineries

Entering Korea with the right positioning.

We assess commercial fit before outreach and focus on qualified importer targets rather than generic contact lists.

  • Korean importer mapping
  • Targeted introductions
  • Commercial follow-up
  • Buyer tastings and professional meetings

For producers able to provide clear export pricing, technical information and reliable availability. We first clarify the situation in South Korea and the scope of a possible collaboration.

For Korean importers

Italian producers selected with your portfolio in mind.

We scout wineries by category, regional identity, price positioning, channel fit and commercial relevance.

  • Curated producer scouting
  • Regional and category opportunities
  • Direct winery introductions
  • Tasting coordination in Italy and Korea
  • Ongoing communication support

Tell us the regions or wine styles you need, your target ex-cellar prices, channels, expected volumes and any certification or exclusivity requirements. These guide a focused shortlist for discussion.

How we work

From assessment to a focused introduction.

For wineries, the process starts with the portfolio and the current distribution situation. For importers, it starts with a specific sourcing need.

  1. Initial assessment

Review the winery, wines, pricing, export readiness and existing distribution or discussions in South Korea.

  2. Market-fit analysis

Assess positioning, distribution channels and whether the wines address a relevant portfolio gap.

  3. Targeted importer research

Research suitable licensed importers, taking account of their current producers, price ranges and commercial focus.

  4. Introduction and follow-up

Where there is a credible match and agreed terms, support introductions and subsequent communication. Tastings and further development are arranged as appropriate.

An assessment does not guarantee representation, an importer appointment or an order. Wineries sell directly to licensed Korean importers.

Current scouting focus

Regional identity. A practical commercial fit.

Our current research focuses on distinctive Italian producers, indigenous grape varieties and wines suited to premium hospitality and specialist retail. Export pricing, continuity of supply and the importer’s existing portfolio are part of every assessment.

Producers under research are not presented as represented wineries. Availability for South Korea is confirmed directly before a commercial introduction.
